Austevoll Research Station currently has seven guest rooms in two locations. There are four rooms on the second floor of the main larboratory building. Each of these rooms has a stacked bunk bed (see photo), a desk, a sink, a cupboard and high-speed internet access via network cable. Just outside these rooms is a fully-equipped common kitchen and bathroom/shower. There are also laundry facilities in the basement of the building.
The station owns a modern an newly rennovated guest house that is a 2 minute walk from the main building. Each of three guest rooms has a bed, a closet and a desk. There is a common living room (equipped with a large flat-screen TV connected to a satellite dish and with a DVD player and surround sound system and a wood burning stove) and a common kitchen and bathroom. There are laundry facilities in the basement. There is also wireless internet in the house and a Weber gas grill on the deck.
The longer-term plan is to close the four rooms in the station's main building and to rennovate the basement of the house to add two self-sufficient and fully-equipped apartments so that the house can accommodate 5-8 guests.
